Celebrating and dreaming on International Women’s Day.

A few weeks ago my dad sent me an article highlighting the recent decisions of high-profile female leaders to step back from their careers. Jacinda Ardern, Sheryl Sandberg, and Toronto’s Dina Pugliese among them.

Interesting, not surprising, and a little sad, I thought.

And as I sat down to write about International Women’s Day, I couldn’t ignore it.

Yes, today is a celebration of women and how far we have come. And it’s also a realization that we’re not there yet. The gap is still big. And it’s at risk of getting bigger. Have a look at Lean In’s Women in the Workplace report ‘We’re in the midst of a Great Breakup.’ Or better yet – talk to the women in your life.

It’s great that we have a day. But we need more to change.

We need more workplaces to invite and sustain the conditions that allow for the advancement and equity of women to become reality.

So today I am celebrating the perseverance and power of women -- and dreaming of the equity that my daughter will experience in the workplace.

What are you celebrating and dreaming of today?
